Braces?

Butterbean had to get an expander in her top jaw the other day. I have seen two things now that said todays kids have smaller jaws from the chemicals in our food and from not eating and chewing enough raw food like vegetables. I find that interesting but sad. We already had two teeth pulled out last month on her bottom jaw. Her baby teeth are not falling out so her permanent teeth are not able to come in. And in some cases the space is not big enough for the teeth to come in.And then she got braces on her front two teeth to prevent the gap that is there now from getting bigger as the expander does it's job. Eating has been different. The first night the orthodontist told her to have soup so we made Ramen noodles. The noodles kept getting stuck all over. The next night she had chilli and it took me brushing her teeth 3 times after that to get all the bean pieces out of her expander.

New addition

On January 4, 2012 we welcomed our newest member to our family. His nick name is Cricket. My husband's Grandmother used to call him that so I think it is fitting. Cricket wasn't quite ready to come, he was 3 weeks early, but my health was getting worse. My doctor discovered later that I did not have signs of Pre-eclempsia like she had thought but that I was right into the thick of it. So I had to be induced again. My 4th child and everyone has had to be induced. When the nursery took little Cricket back he immediately flopped his arms to the side so she took him over to the NICU. She came over to tell me, who was sobbing like crazy, that she thought he would be back with her shortly. But that was not to be the case. His lungs were underdeveloped so he was put on oxygen. They were not sure if he also had an infection so they started him on antibiotics right away.I know the head is where they put iv's on little ones but it was hard for me to see. This is the kids first glimpse of him. It was hard for Butterbean to not be able to touch him and hold him.We are so lucky and excited to have this cutie in our lives. We are truly blessed with this one.
