Bishop returns

Today's Sacrament meeting was so good. A - because my kids actually pretty much behaved. B - because today was the first Sunday back for our Bishop since October 23. That was the day he was rushed to the hospital due to complications from the H1N1 Virus. He has been in the hospital all this time and just got back home this week. To see him wheeled in in his wheelchair just made the room light up and tears brought to your eyes. They placed him down in front of the podium. And then brought two chairs that they placed on either side of him for his counselors to sit with him. It was so wonderful and touching. We got to hear him speak today for our Ward Conference. It was really wonderful and touching and there were many people that were touched by the spirit when he spoke. I am so happy for him and his family that he is home and on the mend. To be able to see him every Sunday will be a wonderful thing to see.

Need any lettuce?

Here is my purchase from this morning's Bountiful Basket. Beside the normal fruit and vegetables I purchased a 2 lb bag of granola (which I am enjoying right now with some strawberries) and 5 loaves of 9 grain bread (pictured is only 4 as I gave one away to my sister). It was only $36.50 for all of this. I have not researched exactly how much it would be at the store but I know it would be more. Last week I ate at least 4 - 6 servings of fresh vegetables every day. Every day! And that is not including the servings of fruit. Crazy! I don't remember the last time I ate this healthy. The only thing I didn't tackle a whole bunch is that lettuce I got last week. And now I have more. he he. My sister joked that someone wanted her to lose weight. I think I am included in that. :) I said we better start eating salad for 3 meals a day. Hmmmmmmm......when I stay at my sister-in-law's and she has made salad I would eat it as a snack, for meals, snacks, more snacks. It was so good. Maybe I need to make it like hers. :) Hopefully all this will help with my weight loss goal. Thanks to my neighbor for printing out my receipts for me the last two weeks. You can have the pick of the table girl! Obscure fruit/veggie that I can't wait to try? Kumquats. Yeah! Now if only I could get my family to enjoy this stuff as much as I do. :(

Yummmmmy!!!!

This was my first week signing up for a Bountiful Basket. The kids and I could hardly wait to get home and eat. I devoured those blueberries first and the kids hit the apples. I can't wait to eat more fruit and veggies in the coming week.It was so fun seeing all these baskets filled with produce. My sister had also purchased one with me. My kids were so mad that we were only there for a few minutes. They said they didn't get enough time to play with their cousin. :)The only draw back was it took an hour for me to order my basket because their website is so busy, but in the long run it is worth it with all the yummy food I get and for a good price. I am also excited to try some new things. I haven't had radishes since I lived at home. I had some for lunch and they were so good. And the Danish Acorn (I think a squash) will be fun to try too.

Party time!

My husband's best friend invited us over to his house for a dinner for his son who is joining the Army National Guard. They are such a wonderful group of people and I love them dearly. And they are amazing with my kids!

The two Appleseeds. he he. We named our baby after this amazing man. He has been my husband's friend for about 30 years. It is always so wonderful to see him. Here is the newest ANG recruit that we were celebrating. He is so great with the kids and a true spiritual giant. He will go far in this world. He just seems to light up the room he is in.Appleseed playing with his new toy. :)Little S was holding my son and feeding him. To me that just warms my heart.I can't tell this family enough how much they mean to us. They are truly wonderful people and we are so lucky to have them in our lives.

Finding Joy

Can we find joy in our trials and our sufferings? I think so. That is just one of the many wonderful things that were taught in my Relief Society lesson at church today. The teacher is one of my favorites. I know my daughter found joy in our recent trial. When her Dad was injured almost 2 weeks ago she was crying but happy that he would be home with us for awhile. And yes it had been very difficult to have him hurt again but I also have enjoyed being with him more. For those of you that have not heard about it I am waiting for some more pictures so I can do a good post about it. :)

Let us relish life as we live it, find joy in the journey, and share our love with family and friends. - President Thomas S Monson. Such an incredible thought. Do you relish your life? I know I don't as often as I should. I don't relish the drawings on the walls, the piles of laundry, the toys that I step on. Yet before I know it my children will be grown up and gone and I won't have those things. And I will miss them. Or so I have been told.

Another wonderful thing that we learned was that when someone does something awful to us that we don't need to say it is OK that they did that awful thing, but we can turn it over to the Lord. I have always been amazed at the parents of the children in the Amish school shooting, I think back in 2001. They were able to go to the shooters family and tell them that they forgave him for what he had done. Could you do that? I don't know if I could but I like to think I could.

Jesus and me are BFF forever. I love you Jesus. So here is a goal for the week: Send a note to someone you appreciate or a note to someone you have not spoken with in awhile. Tell the people in your life you love them every chance you get. Be the Lords BFF. And relish life!

D & C 46:7 - doing all things with prayer and thanksgiving...
